WAVY Unpaid Sports Intern, Summer Semester 2024

WAVY-TV 10/ WVBT FOX43 is searching for a dynamic SPORTS INTERN who wants to learn the inner workings of a newsroom and Sports Department including, but not limited to: Writing, shooting, and editing for sports reports in newscasts. The intern will be working with photographers and sports reporters in the newsroom and in the field to prep for the final on-air stories, as well as experiencing other departments and aspects of a TV station.

This is an UNPAID / FOR-CREDIT position for the summer semester 2024 only.

We are looking for someone who has completed journalism and TV Production courses, understands journalistic integrity, and has a passion for the field. Should have a working knowledge of video editing software like AVID/Final Cut Pro, but ADOBE Creative Suites is preferred. Familiarity with sports and newswriting software is a plus.

The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn the inner workings of a local newsroom and how all departments in a TV station work to support each other. Before beginning, the intern *must be* enrolled in a college degree-granting program, and *will be required* to show proof of enrollment in an internship course within that program.

12-15 hours per week on site. Ability to work a varying schedule Sunday through Saturday required; days and times will vary and be set in agreement with supervisor.
