Job Description
Universal Music Group 2025 Summer Internship Program: Brand & Label Opportunities: Operations (CA, FL, NY, TN)

Program Eligibility:
• Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree
• Graduating between Spring 2025 - Fall 2027
• Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing accommodations)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future (e.g., H1-B, OPT, etc.)
• Commit to 20 - 40 hours per week (based on individual business area)

Note: There are multiple job descriptions listed below. Please read carefully. Applications will be reviewed early Spring 2025.

Analytics (CA, FL, NY)

How You'll CREATE:

CA:
• Daily and weekly tracking of recent releases
• Identify trends in our songs and albums that are driving increases
• Work with different teams within our larger group on specific projects
• Focus on using various datasets from both internal and external sources to solve problems from across the business

FL:
• Special projects to enhance current dashboards.
• Support with multi varied analysis in accordance to the team needs.
• Weekly consumption reports.
• Collecting, cleaning and design of useful dashboards for the team.
• Documentation and maintenance of current reports.
• Collaboration with all departments within the organization as needed.
• Professional presentations in cases where its needed by the team.

NY:
• A&R Research:
• Supporting the analysis of emerging music trends and artist discovery by compiling and interpreting different data.
• Assisting with creating reports that inform A&R decision-making.
• Contributing to data-driven artist scouting by evaluating new talent using digital metrics
• Digital:
• Assisting in the analysis of social media and digital marketing campaigns, measuring engagement, reach, and conversion rates.
• Helping to optimize digital strategies by analyzing campaign performance data.
• Supporting the team in monitoring audience demographics and behavioral trends across various platforms.
• Commerce:
• Assisting with building reports to track key metrics and trends in digital and physical sales.

Ideal candidates will have:
• Understanding of statistics, mathematical formulas, analytical process and customer service
• Proficient in SQL
• Proficient in Tableau and other data mining and visualization
• Programming language such as : Python, c++
• Strong analytical skills (statistical thinking)
• Interest in research

Commerce (NY)

How You'll CREATE:
• Review new releases from Friday and see if each artist's Spotify pins, This Is, and/or Complete Collections are updated
• Pandora pin submissions
• Vevo impression slate submissions
• Pandora Charts
• Artist update pitch emails
• Spotify Playlist List Update
• Artist Profile Maintenance
• Competitive release schedule
• Spotify playlist ideation
• Stationhead listening party event ideation

Commercial Partnerships (TN)

How You'll CREATE:
Our department oversees the relationships of our distributing partners and the label. The department monitors streaming strategy, maintenance, trends, and pitching to editorial playlists. The team works to ensure that each release is being cared for and successes are communicated to all distributing platforms to ensure the most top tier support editorially.
• Streaming & playlist reporting
• Gathering info for Hit List
• Playlist updates
• Playlist creation
• Streaming account marketing (Spotify Artist Pick, Pandora AMP)
• Assisting team with misc. needs

Commercial Strategy & Partnerships Team (Commerce) (NY)

How You'll CREATE:

The Commercial Strategy & Partnerships Team (Commerce) handles all things related to servicing and streaming of our roster's music across all DSP's. The commerce team oversees the overall marketing strategy of an artist's release which includes everything from working with DSP partners, internal teams, and artist management teams to maximize reach. The commerce team additionally works closely to manage all physical products as well as their set up at partners.
• Update & maintain internal documents used for release planning
• Create social assets for releases
• Maintain artist profiles across various DSPs
• Coordinate & ensure proper delivery of projects to DSPs
• Pitch new releases & current label priorities for DSP marketing & playlisting opportunities
• Manage physical products and their set up at partners
• Brainstorm creative & unique physical products to accompany releases

Ideal candidates will have:
• Strong understanding of the general marketplace
• General understanding of various DSPs (esp Apple, Spotify & Amazon)
• Proficient in Google Drive suite (Sheets, Docs, etc)

Copyright (TN)

How You'll CREATE:

The Copyright team's responsibilities start with a song. We setup writers according to their contracts, enter any songs that come in with the contract, and handle all the PRO registrations to ensure our client is taken care of. With an ever-growing catalog of songs, our work is never done. We spend our time navigating the wild world of publishing, including but activities such as: processing new works, researching claims, resolving conflicts, tracking cut songs, submitting corrections to PROs, finding ISRCs, and more. We also work closely with other teams in Publishing, including licensing, sync, digital rights, and creative.
• Catalog audits at the performing rights organizations
• Tracking our new releases, and data entry.

The intern will learn about contracts, copyright and publishing, PROs, etc. We work on individual projects as well as team-based ones, depending on what's going on.

Ideal candidates will have:
• Experience with Microsoft Access a plus
• Publishing/Copyright experience a plus but not required
• Interest in a data-oriented role

Creative Sync (CA)

How You'll CREATE:

The creative sync department is responsible for pitching artist catalogs under Republic Corps for various outlets (film, tv, ads, video games, sports, etc.)
• Assist with weekly release schedule updates
• Support with weekly themed samplers through collecting data, compiling media quotes and pulling album artwork
• Research publisher info and pull label copy using our internal systems
• Track film and television release dates for our pending sync requests
• Work on a Monthly TV news update
• Help update our Artist info grid as needed
• Assist with keeping our Hit List updated.
• Support the sync team with sorting and tagging within the audio library on DISCO as needed.
• Various administrative ad hoc tasks to help support the team.

Ideal candidates will have:
• Media/Tech/Social media savvy (ie: TikTok trends, Billboard charts, etc)
• Experience with DISCO program (preferred, but not required)

Ecommerce (FL)

How You'll CREATE:

E-commerce department oversees all of the design, development, sale and marketing of artist physical products through D2C channels. We run all aspects of artist stores to offer fans the best product and experience.
• Sample Management and shipment
• Product set up sheet
• Update marketing calendars, merchandise directory and other department records
• Linkfire docs - resizing images, preparing links, etc.
• Market research on artis
