Universal Music Group 2025 Summer Internship Program: Brand & Label Opportunities: Creative (CA, FL, NY, TN)
Program Eligibility:
• Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree
• Graduating between Spring 2025 - Fall 2027
• Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing accommodations)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future (e.g., H1-B, OPT, etc.)
• Commit to 20 - 40 hours per week (based on individual business area)
Note: There are multiple job descriptions listed below. Please read carefully. Applications will be reviewed early Spring 2025.
A&R (CA, FL, NY, TN):
How You'll CREATE:
• Scout and identify potential new talent through various sources (social media, industry networks, listening to demos etc.)
• Provide administrative support in organizing and scheduling meetings, studio sessions, and artist showcases.
• Conduct research on industry trends, emerging artists, and market data
• Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing, publicity, and creative services, to coordinate artist releases and promotional activities.
• Contribute to the creation of artist biographies, press releases, and other promotional materials for artists.
• Draft meeting agendas, taking notes, and following up on action items from A&R meetings.
• Assist in the organization and maintenance of artist files, contracts, and other important documents.
• Create one-sheets for pitching materials
• Attend shows/concerts as needed
• Grammy submissions work
• Lyric transcription
Ideal candidates will have:
• Have a strong interest in music research
• Audio editing a plus
• Skilled in social media platforms and DSPs
• Must have a good understanding of current music trends
Alt Lab Marketing (NY):
How You'll CREATE:
• Develop and maintain one sheets for artists, highlighting key statistics and achievements
• Track and analyze artist social media growth and engagement metrics
• Acquire an in-depth understanding of the Alternative Lab artist roster to inform strategic initiatives
• Participate in pitching for artist events and activations to enhance visibility and engagement
• Join weekly calls to collaborate on brainstorming sessions for single and album releases
• Attend regular meetings with cross-departmental teams to gain insights into label operations and best practices
• Assist in organizing and executing in-person events and activations to promote artists effectively
• Manage product distribution for indie record store events, ensuring a seamless experience
• Support asset creation for promotional materials and marketing campaigns
• Log weekly updates for the active artist roster, maintaining clear communication and tracking progress
Ideal candidates will have:
• Entry-level knowledge of artist marketing campaigns, with a foundational understanding of strategies to promote music and engage audiences
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in video editing (preferred)
Artist Development (NY)
How You'll CREATE:
Artist development involved building audiences through in-person activations, whether on tour, at shows, events in market, or album release initiatives.
• Research artists, trends, activations they see working for other artists, and locations in other cities, etc.
• Ideate for future initiatives including team brainstorms.
• Problem solve for onsite logistics.
• Possibly help onsite at shows and activations in the market.
Ideal candidates will have:
• Foundational photoshop skills a plus
Audience Growth (CA, FL)
How You'll CREATE:
• Social Media Support: Assist in creating, scheduling, and analyzing social media content across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. You'll also monitor trends and help identify engagement opportunities.
• Content Planning: Work closely with the team on content calendars, helping to brainstorm ideas, gather assets, and organize release schedules to maximize engagement for key campaigns.
• Paid Media Campaigns: Support the setup and monitoring of paid media initiatives, learning how to optimize ads and report on key performance metrics.
• Influencer Research: Help identify influencers that align with our artists' audiences, assist with outreach, and track campaign impact.
• Audience Insights and CRM: Assist with audience data analysis and CRM initiatives, such as preparing fan newsletters or direct-to-fan campaigns that deepen audience
Ideal candidates will have:
• Social Media Savvy: Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) with an eye for trends and emerging content styles that resonate with music fans.
• Content Creation: Skills in writing, basic graphic design, or video editing would be beneficial for supporting content creation. Creativity and attention to detail are key.
• Analytical Mindset: Comfort with data analysis and tools like Excel or social media analytics. The ability to interpret insights and identify patterns will help in reporting and campaign optimization.
Brand Partnerships (CA)
How You'll CREATE:
Help Brands team by identifying new brand leads, brokering introductory meetings, preparing pitch decks, and assisting with follow ups.
Ideal candidates will have:
• Social media savvy
• Very strong familiarity with AI and how to optimize it for daily use
• Adobe software skillset
Commercial Strategy (CA)
How You'll CREATE:
The Commercial Strategy team is charged with caretaking our artists' vision and music out in the world with streaming partners. We are storytellers, salespeople, and data analysts. We are on a constant on a mission to achieve maximum success for our artists through creative marketing ideas and data-informed strategy.

How You'll CREATE:
The creative team works across the majority of our label's roster handling creative direction, art direction, graphic design, packaging, photography, photoshoot production, editing, animation, motion graphics, etc.
• Assist the department in the creation and delivery of creative assets, including music videos, lyric videos, cutdowns, photos, artwork, logos/fonts, marketing/promo/social materials, etc.
• Tasks may include content creation and delivery, shoot prep, attend shoots, perform content research on current trends, paperwork administration, organize and catalogue elements, mail packages, and perform various administrative duties related to content production.
