This Fall Internship is from September through December 13th (start and end dates are flexible based on school schedules) and all candidates must be able to work part-time hours (10-29 a week). Our offices are open Monday through Friday, 9-6 pm. This position is ideal for a student enrolled in an accredited college or university. A hybrid work structure may or may not be available.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

The Sony Pictures Entertainment Global Investigative Services team investigates various types of matters for the company, such as internal misconduct, fraud, content protection issues, information security matters, physical security matters and assists SPE's Legal teams by providing technical assistance pertaining to legal matters.

The Special Investigations Intern will report to the Executive Director, Investigations and work closely with the rest of the Investigative Services team. The intern will have the opportunity to interact with various stakeholders in the company, such as Legal, Legal Compliance, Employee Relations, Security, Finance and Production management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform day-to-day investigative activities to support the company's investigation processes globally
• Work closely with the Executive Director, Investigations to organize, plan and execute investigations
• Work collaboratively with Investigative Services team members to conduct threat assessments
• Use open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques to research, assess and mitigate various types of threats to the company, employees, and talent
• Support Investigative Services team members with interviewing employees, vendors and other third parties
• Gather and analyze data and facts as needed to support investigations
• Independently execute specific investigative and administrative tasks, as directed, in an efficient and proficient manner
• Support updating and documenting investigative findings in the team's case management system

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Effective analytical and organizational skills
• A team player with a professional demeanor
• Strong interpersonal skills and an aptitude for customer service
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Computer proficiency in Internet/social media research and aptitude for staying current on social media platforms, forums, and image boards
• Ability to take initiative and execute tasks under general supervision
• A high degree of professional integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality while working on highly sensitive matters

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A completion of or currently pursing a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, business administration or related fields
• Robust Internet research abilities, specifically relating to social media platforms and forums
• Familiarity with OSINT research and tools

The anticipated base salary for this position is $19/hour. This role may also qualify for comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
