Seattle Refined Intern (Spring 2020)

The Seattle Refined team has an incredible opportunity for an energetic part-time intern. We are looking for someone who is ready for a challenge! You will be getting real world experience that could give you an edge when you take on the working world. As a part-time Refined team-member, you will work with both the web team (SeattleRefined.com) and the TV team (Seattle Refined, airs at 3pm on KOMO weekdays), as well as the sales and promotion teams. The Seattle Refined brand is expanding and expanding fast, we are looking for someone to help us brainstorm and create content, execute and post/produce digital and broadcast stories, and assist at shoots.

Along with its daily TV Show, Seattle Refined is a one-of-a-kind, online lifestyle magazine launched by KOMO TV in 2014. Both the TV show and website focus on what makes our region special. Featuring topics that include Eat & Drink, Lifestyle and Travel, we're excited to show Pacific Northwesterners everything our region has to offer!

Required Skills:
• Be organized and professional – you'll be representing Seattle Refined and KOMO News

• Be able to multi-task and take initiative

• Writing experience (freelance, school paper, blog, etc)

• Broadcast writing experience a plus, but not requirement

• Still and/or video photography skills/experience a plus, but not requirement. Able to commit to 20 hours a week from April 6, 2020 through approximately July 3, 2020

• Flexibility of schedule is a plus

Duties:
• Brainstorm, interview, write story content for website

• Brainstorm story ideas, log interviews and video footage, assist in producing and organizing television shoots and stories

• Set up and schedule shoots for web and TV, including coordinating with subject/PR team/sales & marketing teams

• Help maintain website and TV editorial calendar

• Assist TV/web show on out-of-office shoots

• Write up and post stories to web

• Help cut the show stories and flip to website after their air

• Assist with KOMO's Production, Creative Services, and Sales Promotion teams on an as-needed basis

Requirements:
• Minimum 12 hours per week commitment

• All offers are contingent on successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
