Research Tools Developer Intern - Master's

About the Team:
The PlayStation Studios User Research team empowers game development studios by integrating player feedback and data into the creative process, ensuring that games deliver the fun and engaging experiences intended. We conduct player research primarily in our purpose-built playtest labs, using custom software to gather and analyze data. As a part of our team, you will help the tech & tools team develop new features for our research lab toolsets, enabling us to remain an industry-leading research team.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Develop, test, and deploy new features on internal web-based applications used for streaming user research playtests and managing research data.
• Collaborate with the user research team to gather requirements, design solutions, and integrate new tools and features into existing workflows.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize the performance of internal web applications to ensure a smooth and reliable user experience.
What We're Looking For:
• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university, with an expected graduation date by Spring 2026.
• Web development experience.
• Experience with databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with AWS, especially S3 and EC2.
• Experience working with Git or other version control tools.
• Proactive and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical team members.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with the .NET framework and C#, PHP, or HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
• Experience with ECS is a plus.
• Passion for gaming!
Eligibility:
• Able to work at minimum 2-3 days a week from our San Mateo, CA office during one of the following periods: May 19th - August 8th or June 17th - September 5th.
• Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
• Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.
Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
