The Role
For our global streaming platform's cloud infrastructure, we primarily use Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our ecosystem enables engineering teams to run applications and services at scale, utilizing a mix of open-source and custom solutions. The diverse platform landscape leads to extensive core platform data. In the Data & Insights team, data engineers and analysts turn this rich data into actionable insights, helping teams make efficiency-driven decisions that enhance the business. The Data Engineering function is pivotal to success in this area, offering an exciting opportunity to work with new technologies and experience our unique culture.
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will develop frameworks and tools to improve the quality and usability of our platform data product. In our collaborative and dynamic environment, you'll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and tackle exciting, complex challenges of the data world. You'll have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and contribute to innovative data solutions. About You:
• Current student in the process of obtaining Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Engineering or Data Science. Master's is preferred.
• Experience in at least one major programming language (e.g. Python, Scala, Java) and SQL (any variant).
• Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.
• Passion for data with some prior experience (i.e. developing ETL jobs or data modeling) from prior internships, school projects or previous work experience.
• Quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communicator.
• Keen on following best engineering practices.
Bonus Points:
• Knowledge of distributed frameworks (e.g. Spark, Kafka), data warehouse solutions (e.g. Hive, Iceberg, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Comfortable to experiment with innovative technologies such as generative AI.
• Experience with common tools from large companies (i.e. Jenkins, Git).
• Strong intra-team communication skills.
• Involvement in open-source big data projects.

Internships are paid and are a minimum of 12 weeks, with a choice of a few fixed start dates in May or June 2025 to accommodate varying school calendars. Conditions permitting, our 2025 summer internships will be located in our Los Gatos, CA office, or in our Los Angeles, CA office, depending on the team.

We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.
The overall market range for Netflix Internships is typically $40/hour - $110/hour.
