Department: MarketingType: Paid Internship - part-time / seasonal / 25-30 hours per week
Reports To: Manager, Social Media
Duration: 6 months - March through August 2025
The Los Angeles Lakers are seeking a Social Media Intern to join the Integrated Marketing team. This role reports to the Manager, Social Media and assists with the day-to-day social media channel management across all Lakers owned channels. This role works closely with the full integrated marketing team in the planning, creation, and execution of content that can be leveraged across channels to engage fans and bring new consumers into the Lakers brand.
The Los Angeles Lakers Internship Program is a season long paid internship that enhances students' experience by bridging the gap between the academic environment and a future work environment. Interns learn the business of basketball off the court and behind the scenes through department assignments, special events and professional development opportunities. Interns will participate in learning sessions geared towards enhancement of business skills and understanding of day to day business operations, including guest speaker sessions, networking opportunities, and resume preparation courses.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the operation of several social media accounts, including main channels, from content ideation to graphic design, photo cropping and copywriting.
• Assist with practice, game coverage and off-day programming.
• Assist in keeping the social calendar up-to-date and ensuring content is posted on time.
• Clearly communicate social needs to others across the Marketing department.
• Develop creative ideas that our Marketing department can execute on – specifically for vertical video.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Creative and strategic skills necessary include video editing, copywriting, social strategy, filming (cell phone), and a professional demeanor.
• Ability to work effectively and maintain professionalism while interacting with high-profile talent.
• Maintain excellence in platform understanding, staying current and educating others on channel updates and best practices.
• Must demonstrate an active use and understanding of digital and social media.
The pay for this role is $18/hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications.
