Intern - KMBC - Engineering

The KMBC 9 / KCWE 29 Internship Program is a paid, rigorous and highly competitive hands-on experience that provides individuals the opportunity to learn about the operations of a broadcast television station. While interning in the KMBC/KCWE-TV Engineering Department, you can expect an in-depth introduction to television engineering operations and maintenance. Interns observe and interact with technicians to learn functions in master control, production and maintenance. This role reports to the Engineering Director.

MASTER CONTROL OPERATIONS
• Programming & scheduling using broadcast automation to switch and control servers, production and network sources.
• Use of master control graphics systems.
• Coordination of content & communication with production control, news and other departments.
• Logging and compliance.

PROGRAM & COMMERCIAL INGEST
• Observe methods & systems used to acquire and groom content for air.

MAINTENANCE
• Installation, troubleshooting, repair of various broadcast A/V and IT systems.
• Customer support provided to end users in facility.

Your first day at the station is set aside for orientation which Must be attended. Plan to work three days a week, eight hours each shift with varying schedules. During your internship you should always check in with your assigned advisor upon entering the building. In-person attendance is required.

Securing housing and transportation during the internship are the responsibility of the intern. KMBC 9 / KCWE 29 cannot offer support in this area.
