Hearst Corporation, a major consumer and business media company operating in the US and globally, is offering 10-week Technology Internship opportunity, where the technology interns will be exposed to and work with the wide range of systems, technology, processes, and workflows that help to solve complex business problems.

As a Hearst Technology Intern, you will transition what you learned in the college classroom or technical school to working in the real world. You will gain knowledge and insights related to how Hearst business units function and you will be expected to contribute to the overall success of the business. You will work with smart colleagues and gain exposure to core technology platforms, IT systems, network infrastructure, software development, support, maintenance, and operation. You will work on real-world projects and initiatives in collaboration with the teams across Hearst businesses. This is your chance to bring your ideas and solutions to life and grow your skillset.

Resonsibilities:

What you'll learn:
• Operations of the software development life cycle and how to work in an agile (Scrum) environment
• How to think critically about mobile and desktop website experiences and the testing considerations for websites that get over ###### views a day
• How to use popular industry tools such as GitHub, Jira, BrowserStack, TestRail, Miro, and potentially QA automation frameworks like Cypress or Playwright
• Introduction to real-world Product Management, Engineering, and Design best practices through collaboration with our experts
• Digital accessibility basics to ensure our products can used by people with disabilities

Job Activities and Responsibilities:
• Test code changes at various stages of development and deployment to ensure bugs are identified before they get to production
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and Scrum masters to determine how a feature should behave and how it could break
• Partner with Product Management to understand features and create thorough documentation
• Run test cases and provide results
• Identify and track related issues
• Participate in agile ceremonies

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related technical field
• Must have at least one additional quarter/semester of school remaining following the completion of the internship
• Strong attention to details, excellent writing skills, able to follow written instructions and succinctly document steps in order to reproduce issues
• Take pride in finding ways to break software applications
• Care about and empathize with a reader's experience

The salary for this internship role is $20 / hour. Benefits/perks may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Hearst and the business unit you will join.
