Epic Games is searching for a Technical Art Intern, London Lab to join our team. Our London Lab office offers a dynamic, ever-evolving work environment where creativity thrives. We work closely with other film, TV and game creators, helping them bring their visions to life in Unreal and UEFN. To support this, we've equipped our space with cutting-edge tools, including an in-camera VFX studio, motion capture systems, and console developer kits, among other high-end resources.
Our office is an exciting, busy space where we often engage with like-minded artists, creators, and technicians. As a hub of technology, we aim to both support and inspire this community by showcasing the latest projects and technology on our Virtual Production stage.
You will work closely with our technical artists and Stage team on a daily basis. Our team will guide you in creating optimised assets that can work for all scenarios, whether demonstrating this in Unreal Engine (UE) on our virtual stage or inside a new game concept within UEFN. We want to make sure we can build our ecosystem and showcase the diverse and interoperable nature of real-time content.
In this role you will
• Craft content for Virtual Production demos in UE and UEFN
• Craft standout demos and game concepts that highlight the latest features in UE and UEFN.
• Create interactive and experiential projects across a wide range of industries, varying in context across the entire Fortnite and Unreal ecosystem.
What we're looking for
• Basic understanding of the workflows around asset creation and how to efficiently implement assets into Unreal engine
• An understanding of Blueprints.
• A good understanding of how to optimise assets and basic levels: knowledge of how to manipulate textures, shaders, LOD's and lighting to run at higher framerates.
• Creativity in problem-solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude.
• Technically minded and self-motivated for upskilling across software and hardware.
• Able to take feedback and critique to iterate on work to completion.
Nice to have skills
• A good understanding and/ or previous hands-on experience with Video/ Audio/ IT systems.
• An understanding of Skeletal mesh assets and an understanding of motion capture or experience in data capture techniques.
This internship has a flexible start date in 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
