BALANCE DESIGN INTERN
What You'll Do
We are looking for a Balance Designer Intern to join us on Fortnite Battle Royale. As part of the team you will be given a gameplay item (likely a weapon) to own and help us manage the live product. Digging into data, helping shape future content, and working with several disciplines to help bring ambitious and crazy ideas to life.
In this role, you will
• Use data to inform design decisions and measure outcomes. Identify practical solutions to problems and help drive empathetic design to improve player experience.
• Adjust live balance in real time. Adjusting numbers, loot, and all knobs available to come up with the optimal solutions. Helping preemptively set features to be balanced/adjusted post launch.
• Work closely with Design to iterate and provide feedback and polish to the design process.
• Rapidly iterate on designs in order to find the best possible outcome in the least amount of time.
• Create and own at least one weapon for Fortnite Battle Royale from the ground up. Working with all relevant departments from ideation to shipping and be responsible for how it ships and any post launch adjustments..
What we're looking for
• First and foremost we are looking for an individual who is passionate about multiplayer balance and game health in Fortnite. No prior game development experience is required.
• Autonomy and the ability to find and fix issues with a passion for learning.
• Ability to communicate your ideas and collaborate with others (written or verbal).
• We consider it beneficial if you have systems design knowledge (including data tables, tuning & balance), and/or prior experience with analytics tools/languages/processes (SQL, tableau, databricks, grafana, etc).
• It's a plus if you have some prior visual scripting experience.
This internship has a flexible start date in 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing until teams find an ideal match.
