About the Role & Program
The Disney Music Group (DMG) is the music hub for The Walt Disney Company, encompassing all aspects of music commercialization and marketing: recorded music (Walt Disney Records and Hollywood Records), Disney Music Publishing and Disney Concerts. DMG distributes music both physically and digitally and licenses music throughout the world in various forms of media including television, print, gaming, and consumer products.
The Disney Music Group Production and Asset Management department is responsible for design, preparation, manufacturing, collection, distribution and archival of audio, video and graphic assets for the group. This fast-paced department seeks an intern to support the department while learning product development and the production process of a music product. During the course of the internship, the candidate will work in all three departments that are part of the Production Department, which includes product development, asset management and production/distribution, so they have a full understanding of the role our department plays within DMG.
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through August 2025.
What You Will Do
Product Development:
• Work with the team in creating packaging copy, proofing of all graphic assets for physical and digital products and routing for approvals.
• Handle various Sales and Marketing asset requests which includes coordinating, proofing and routing for approval.
• Provide support with our internal scheduling system and repertoire database updates, as well as assist Product Development Director, Manager and Creative team with various tasks and projects related to research and gathering of art assets as needed.
• Participate in catalog release planning, brainstorming and product development as appropriate.
• Liaise with other departments to fulfill requests for art assets.
Asset Management:
• Coordinate audio and video assets for frontline releases working with DMG A&R, A&R Admin, DMG Marketing and distribution team members to help manage music and video commercial releases.
• Liaise with mastering houses, mixers, and external business partners, to coordinate, schedule, and trouble shoot asset deliveries.
• Work with distribution partners to ensure all new release assets are uploaded to distribution Dam and Disney DAM.
• Research and address any QC, mastering or track list issues quickly with delivering agency and distributor, keeping stakeholders updated on progress and resolutions.
• Ingest, cleanse, curate, and tag a large volume of backlog elements into DAM.
• Research legacy music requests as requested by partners across the organization.
• Assist with legacy and acquisition preservation effort.
Production & Distribution:
• Assist in processing new release and catalog physical manufacturing orders; including print and finished good products. Seeing this process through from initial pricing through delivery to the depot.
• Work closely with internal DMG teams to make sure all art and audio assets make it to the vendors in accordance with specific timelines.
• Work with our distributor to ensure timely delivery of our digital products.
• Work with the Curation Specialist to learn and understand the process of archiving our assets in our Studio DAM system.
• Perform general procurement and administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, and Excel.
• High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working in collaborative environments and managing multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in music production, music asset management, or related field
Education
• Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through August 2025
• Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Friday schedule
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Burbank, California area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $22.00 per hour.
