KGO-TV (ABC7) Sports Intern, Summer/Fall 2025

About the Role & Program

KGO-TV (ABC7) is an ABC-owned television station (OTV), located in San Francisco near the city's iconic waterfront. The station is in the #8 ranked television market in the country! The internship program is designed to provide you with an educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming and contribute to daily operations of a major market television station.

The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through early January 2026.

What You Will Do

Ever wonder what it would be like to work in the world of sports news? Our team is looking for a Sports Intern that will have the opportunity to be immersed in our department and get hands-on experience with covering the top stories in the Bay Area and beyond! You'd be tracking the live game broadcasts and alerting us of any key trends, stats, and information. There are also opportunities to go to the games and help our photographer gather interviews on the field pregame and in the locker rooms postgame, pending health and safety protocols.

As the KGO-TV (ABC7) Sports Intern, you may:
• Log live games and track key trends, stats and information
• Assist our sports photographers in the field and at games
• Learn and ask questions from the Sports Department staff

Required Qualifications & Skills
• Experience (academic, employment, or extracurricular) within sports and/or sports journalism or media
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications
• Major or previous coursework in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, producing, writing, editing, or related major
• Experience using social media for news gathering
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
• Familiarity with newsroom editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Dalet

Education
• Junior or Senior year preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through early January 2026
• Fully available to work 20 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program​ in the San Francisco, California area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work​

The pay rate for this role in California is $18.67 per hour. Salary Details
Salary: $18.67 Per Hour ($ USD)
