About the Role & Program
WABC-TV, the flagship Disney/ABC–owned television station in New York, is the most-watched television station in the New York Television market and the United States. WABC also leads the market in station websites and has the highest social media engagement!
WABC-TV's 7 On Your Side unit is responsible for producing dozens of segments each year that inform and entertain, making viewers both smarter and richer. The consumer unit produces content that runs both on over-the-air broadcasts and on WABC-TV's many digital platforms. Most importantly, 7 On Your Side serves as an advocate for our viewers. For the past decade, 7 On Your Side has successfully recovered more than a million dollars each year in restitution for our viewers!!!
What You Will Do:
Every single day, 7 On Your Side gets dozens of emails from our viewers. Each is a cry for help from someone who feels they've been scammed or ripped off. It's the intern's job to effectively and thoughtfully pre-interview many of these viewers to determine if the story is worth the unit's time, effort, and resources.
• Will be responsible for pre-interviewing viewers/guests, compiling documentation, and pitching strong stories to the producer.
• Exercise excellent customer service skills with viewers in need, organize their documents, material and maintain the project relationship.
• Shadow reporter Nina Pineda on numerous shoots, learning on-camera techniques, and doing sample stand-ups!
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Outstanding, highly motivated self-starter who is passionate about helping others, telling good stories, and learning how to put together a television news story.
• A hard-working professional who is an organized multitasker who strives to competently balance different tasks, and who has outstanding phone skills.
• Someone with an insatiable curiosity who isn't afraid to ask questions.
• A courteous candidate who is responsible with outstanding attention to detail, professional demeanor, and strong work ethic.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are August 2025 through January 2026
• All candidates must be willing to work 24 hours/week during a Monday-Friday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor)
• Must provide own housing for the duration internship program in the New York, New York area
• Must have reliable transportation to/from work in the New York area

The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.00 per hour.
