Job Description
This internship will be located in the LA area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager's in office schedule.Newsgathering is at the heart of what CNN does for its audience on television and digital. Working in the Los Angeles bureau of CNN the newsgathering intern will work closely with the producers, editors, and reporters in the process of collecting, reporting, writing, and editing news content for the network's different platforms. The position will put the successful candidate at the center of the news on the West Coast and introduce them to the reporting process at a leading global news organization.
Your Role Accountabilities
• PLEASE NOTE: The Intern must be available to come into our LA office for 3 full 8-hour days between Monday-Friday
• Work on day-of news stories for both digital and television
• Research, write and report for CNN.com pieces
• Work closely with producers and correspondents to develop video content for both linear and digital audiences
• Responsible for story pitching, story research, and helping locate and identify video assets
• Work closely with assignment editors on the frontline of gathering news for the Western region
• Write and contribute to news alerts used for both television and digital reporting
• Develop daily story pitches for CNN's linear and digital platforms
• Make calls and respond to breaking news
• Provide editorial and logistical support for news reporting, including interviews and research
• By the end of the semester, the Newsgathering Intern should have bylined articles on CNN.com and have developed a much better understanding of what it takes to craft news stories for a global news organization
Qualifications & Experience
• Must be available to come into our LA office for 3 full 8-hour days between Monday-Friday

• News diet is a must!
• Exceptional writing ability
• Undergraduate student interested in identifying, exploring, and reporting on issues impacting California and the greater the western region; journalism degree not required
• Passion to pitch ideas and scour local media to understand local communities
• Digitally savvy with a thorough understanding of social media platforms
• Self-motivated, team-player, organized and incredible attention to detail
• Be able to effectively collaborate with a diverse staff
• Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required )
• Must be a rising Junior or Senior Undergrad (18 years or older)
• Must be in academic good standing (3.0
or above cumulative GPA)
• Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.

Program dates:
Start Date: January 2 7 th
End Date: April 1 8 th
• Interns will be expected to work 24 hours per week in a fully in person capacity (3 full 8-hour days in our LA office between Monday-Friday).
• Our internships are paid opportunities with a competitive hourly wage. Credit is not required ; however, we will provide the necessary documentation for school credit if desired. Relocation is not provided .
• Interviewing will take place from
October through early December . A WBD team member will contact you if your experiences and interests match an open internship position. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to give individual status updates.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation for roles in locations where legally required. Pay Rate: $19 per hour USD for undergrad interns
