CNN News Internship (September 2022)

The Job:

Primary responsibilities include research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images and footage.

The Essentials:

Candidates should be detail-orientated, have strong writing and research skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and have the confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers.

The Newsdesk

The Newsdesk role demands the ability to multitask and create high-quality content for both digital and broadcast. As well as coordinating our team of live reporters around the world, we work to fact check and verify breaking news to alert across all CNN platforms. The ability to discover current breaking news stories, write succinctly and accurately, and deliver to deadline is key. Daily tasks include monitoring press conferences and live events, reaching out to press offices for statements and sourcing video/ images. The Newsdesk also makes sure production teams and reporters know about their upcoming live appearances and liaises with the show producers to ensure these run smoothly. The ideal candidate will possess a fine attention to detail and should be confident to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment - and they should prepare to hit the ground running.

Current affairs programmes (Amanpour)

Interns will help with researching and planning stories, as well as writing for the shows. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, good logistical sense and attention to detail.

CNNi Productions (Features TV)

The CNNi Productions team produces features content across TV, digital and social platforms. Interns will help with researching and planning stories, as well as writing scripts and articles, and creating social content. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for a story, strong organisational skills, an ability to multi-task, and a good understanding of both TV and digital platforms.

Interview Content Producing & guest booking

The content producing (or planning) internship is right in the heart of the newsroom and central to CNN's coverage of breaking news stories. The main role of the planning desk is to find and secure the most compelling, interesting and relevant voices across the world to give insight into the top stories of the day. The ideal candidate will have an eye for a strong interview idea, excellent organisational skills, good logistical sense (to get guests to the right place at the right time), acute attention to detail, quick to learn, adaptable and overall a great team player. The planning desk can be fast-paced and intense during breaking news, with periods of downtime which allow for forward planning.

Business

The main role of Business intern is help find and book guests for the business shows along with newsgathering, forward planning and research. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, good logistical sense and attention to detail - https://www.cnn.com/business

The Internship:
• Salary: £ 88.40 per day
• Contract Length: 6 months
• Start Date: Likely to be 1 st September 2022
• You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects.
