Launch your Creature FX Career with Launchpad PRO!

Framestore is excited to announce an opportunity to train and work with our Creature FX team. We will be providing 12 weeks of paid training. This a great chance to build on your Maya experience and discover the Creature FX world, working closely onsite with our Melbourne Creature Team.

Training students in the specific skills and knowledge expected within a junior role, our PRO courses are designed as an accelerator for artists who want to kickstart their careers in a particular specialism within VFX.

Who is it for?
Our program is targeted at candidates who have a CG generalist or entry level knowledge and experience using industry standard tools including Maya, but need to take that first step into the Creature FX Department.

We have a history of providing industry-leading courses within VFX, and have developed the course with Framestore's unique pipeline and tools in mind. The course runs across 3 months, is fully funded by Framestore.
*You will need to be based in Australia or already have work rights in Australia.

This course is designed to set you up as a Junior Creature FX TD.

At Framestore, Creature FX Technical Directors are responsible for providing a wide variety of dynamic simulations for character-based work; including clothing, hair, muscle and skin. The artist will work within the team to provide high-quality animation for a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities of a Creature FX TD:
• Work with the Creature Supervisor, Creature Lead and other Creature FX TD's, as well as Production staff to produce high quality work
• The creation of simulation rigs for characters and creatures using Maya, nCloth and additional proprietary tools
• Shot execution using simulation rigs and the delivery of finished assets to the Lighting department
• Liaison with other departments involved in the creature workflow - Modeling, Rigging, Animation and Lighting
• Involvement in the development of departmental tools and techniques
• Meeting set schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest standards
• Regularly communicating with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines
• Work efficiently as part of a team, or independently, to complete assigned shots
• Submit shots for review and follow through with notes as required

Who Can Apply?
Our program is targeted at Australian based candidates who have a CG generalist type knowledge, who would like to specialise in Creature FX. Our ideal candidate will have a basic knowledge of Maya and 3D in general. The programme does not replace traditional academic training.

This course will be delivered onsite in the Melbourne studio so there are no remote options.
