ABOUT THE ROLE

Salary: £45,000-£60,000 DOE

Location: Sheffield/Hybrid remote working

ZOO Digital have experienced high demand for our services during the pandemic and grown substantially over the last year. Due to further growth in the business, we are currently seeking a Software Engineering Team Manager to join our award-winning Research & Development team. Research & Development work closely with the Product Support Team to create cutting edge software solutions for high profile and industry-leading customers. ZOO's R&D department is thriving – you will work as part of a dynamic, lively team with plenty of opportunities for progression and professional development. The Software Engineering Team Manager will lead a team of high-performing Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers, and Lead Software Engineers, supporting and advising in technical decision making and fostering high standards of excellence. You will provide support, coaching, and mentoring to enable engineers to develop in their careers, as well as working alongside technical leads to determine the development approach and the technical approach of the products.

Day to day responsibilities include;
• Working as the sole developer or leading a team of engineers or working within a team and providing technical insights on a product.
• Responsible for the review and debug of code to ensure high quality.
• Working in close partnership with cross-functional teams and management, creating space for engineers to work their best.

Requirements

If you have what it takes to lead, inspire, and motivate a dynamic Software Engineering team then we'd love to hear from you. We are looking for someone who is keen to be part of a rapidly-growing and dynamic department, and help drive the business forward by achieving project goals. The Software Engineering Team Manager will also provide coaching and mentoring to members of the team, offering insight and support as well as technical knowledge.

Beyond your leadership skills, we are also looking for experienced Software Engineers who are capable of leading complex projects and providing technical guidance for the team. As well as programming experience in one or more Object-Oriented languages, we are looking for applicants with a minimum of 2 years of experience working at a Senior Software Engineer level, ideally with commercial development experience gained in an Agile environment.

We are also keen to hear from applicants with the following skills and experience;
• Ability to communicate clearly both in written form and verbally.
• Comfortable working across multiple areas with a high degree of autonomy.
• Ability to understand and challenge engineering decisions, providing input as necessary to empower the team to make decisions themselves.
• A high degree of empathy and a drive to foster an inclusive team environment.
• Ability to coach people to achieve their goals.
• A natural ability to inspire and motivate a team.
