Job Description

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what's right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. Global Product Policy and Standards (GPS) develops product policies that help improve user experiences across a wide variety of Google's products. This position is on the Info Quality, Kids, and Family Team which is part of the Platforms Strategy Pod within GPS (the pod focused on product and policy issues that affect the company as a whole).

Note: this position will include reviewing content and writing policies for some materials that may be offensive or sensitive to some people.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A diverse team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google's products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Resonsibilities:
• Analyze child safety policy issues facing technology platforms and make policy recommendations on how to address them.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Trust and Safety teams and Engineers to influence product decisions and prioritization and improve user experience for policy-related issues affecting kids and families experiences cross-products.
• Drive research and collaboration in the child safety space both within Google and with Key Opinion Formers to set industry standards and draft, assess and propose cross-product age-appropriate content policies based on child development principles.
• Identify content trends and draft product policies that reduce content that could be harmful to kids and families, and align with Google's information quality principles.
• Provide clear and timely updates to executives and senior stakeholders within GPS and more broadly within Google on issues related to kids and family experiences on Google products.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
• Experience working with internet technologies and related policy and regulatory environments.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with advanced product/program management.
• Experience using data and technology to solve business problems.
• Experience with policy and knowledge of the technology sector and key policy issues affecting kids online (e.g., online safety, parental supervision, right to participation, etc)
• Ability to translate complex issues into simple, clear language and to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and navigate organizational boundaries.
