Job Summary/Description:
Are you ready to grow your anchoring skills? WLBT in Jackson, the number one news media organization in Mississippi is looking for its next newsroom leader. If you want to guide our viewers through breaking news, investigations and the complex issues of the day from a brand new, visually compelling studio, then please consider joining us as our next Anchor. There will also be story-telling from the field. This person will anchor a daily newscast and tell stories as a MMJ.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead our coverage from the studio and the field
- Shooting, writing and editing daily content for newscasts and website
- Compelling live reporting, including breaking, planned and feature coverage
- Operating portable live unit, and conducting live shots from the field
- Generating story ideas and building local contacts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 2+ years as an Anchor or MMJ in a television newsroom preferred
- Journalism or Communications degree or equivalent work experience preferred,
- Knowledge of Mississippi communities, issues, and coverage opportunities
- Must have a good driving record
