Job Summary/Description:

Eastern Carolina's #1 news station, WITN News, is seeking a dynamic journalist to be a leader and a dynamic evening anchor. We are looking for a journalist who is determined to help our station win on every platform every single day. Our next anchor will be a strong journalist who will report on some of the biggest stories in the state. We are looking for an experienced anchor/reporter who is determined to find hard news lead stories. We're looking for someone who already knows how to work a beat and develop sources. Investigative reporting experience is a strong plus. Community involvement is a key part of this high-profile position. Personal appearances at community functions are part of the gig, and it goes without saying that this person will have a strong social media presence.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Anchor live events from our streaming desk
• Conduct live interviews
• Present news stories in a fair, unbiased manner, ensuring the information is accurate and of interest to viewers
• Use editorial judgment to help determine content of the newscasts
• Work with producers and team to create unique, fast-paced newscasts
• Write for the web and post daily on digital platforms including social media
• Develop story ideas to assist news gathering efforts
• Develop contacts and sources in the community
• Mentor young field reporters, check/approve stories/scripts
• Shoot, write, edit hard news, promotable stories

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Dynamic storytelling skills
• Polished delivery
• Ability to connect with viewers
• Good writing and video editing skills
• Good communication skills
• Solid news judgment
• A consistent track record of meeting deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
• Self-starter skills
• Knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as content management systems and social media
• You MUST provide a link to your resume reel
• Pre-employment drug screen, MVR check will be run
• Familiarity with ENPS, Edius, TVU, Arc a plus
