Job Summary/Description:

Have you always had a knack for problem-solving? Are you the type of person who enjoys being hands-on? WILX has an opportunity in our Engineering department for someone to advance their technical skills in the broadcast arena. We are looking for an Associate Engineer. This position is designed to give someone the opportunity to get into the ever-changing and fascinating broadcast engineering field. In this role you would have the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals while getting hands-on experience with all the technical systems within a television station. The role will include tech support for all operations aspects of a news station as well as preventative maintenance tasks for major technical systems.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Perform regular maintenance of broadcast systems to ensure proper operation
• Routine maintenance of hardware and software, such as performing software upgrades and file backups on the network daily, weekly, or monthly
• Work with Engineering staff to design, install and maintain broadcast equipment
• Provide assistance as needed to other members of the Engineering staff
• Work with station personnel providing level 1 support to end users
• Learn proper Engineering principals and processes with a goal to become a Broadcast Engineer
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Proficient with Windows and MAC operating systems
• Professional experience in a technical environment
• Valid & unencumbered driver's license
• Willing to work a flexible on-call schedule
• Must be available 24/7 at times, and ideally live within 30 miles of the station
• Experience as a Technical Media Producer a plus
• Operational knowledge of a Master Control environment a plus
• Computer network knowledge including VLANS, IP addressing and basic troubleshooting a plus
