About WDAM:

WDAM is the #1 station in the Hattiesburg-Laurel DMA. We are dominant on broadcast and digital and produce news on WDAM NBC and WDAM ABC. Hattiesburg-Laurel is market 167 and we reach viewers in eight counties (Covington, Forrest, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Marion, Perry and Wayne). WDAM is less than two hours driving distance to New Orleans, Mobile and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a great station and company.

Job Summary/Description:

WDAM 7 – On Your Side - is looking for a Digital Content News Manager to help lead our digital department and oversee daily content on our website, mobile, OTT and social media platforms. The ideal candidate for this job has a firm grasp of how news content is created and consumed in both the broadcast and digital arenas. More than just a grasp on the new, we are looking for someone with a clear vision of how to implement and grow innovative digital strategies on multiple platforms to help WDAM meet its future goals.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- This person must be creative, energetic, competitive and a problem-solver with strong communication skills
- Must be both a team player and a leader
- Should have a background in journalism with excellent web writing skills and be proficient in AP style

Qualifications/Requirements:
- This person must be able to work well with the engineering, marketing and sales departments
- A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred
- Three or more years of real newsroom experience required, with at least one year as a manager or in a leadership position preferred
- Basic knowledge of Photoshop, digital video editing, brand management programs and content management software is also a plus
