The Job

This is a best-in-class shaper and sharpener of stories and ideas. A true partner with writers to identify distinctive angles on top stories across a variety of topics in CNN's features and opinion portfolio. This editor works across a variety of content teams including features, entertainment, and opinion to support assignment editors and their writers across a wide range of content.

This editor will edit stories from a wide range of sources including digital writers across our features portfolio (which includes wellness, science, entertainment, culture, style, travel), contributing writers including opinion columnists, freelancers, and interns.

Some days will be filled with breaking news edits, while others may involve spending time helping a writer shape and produce a feature story, a newsletter, or a special project.

The Daily

Digital editors will work with a wide range of copy from a wide range of writers. That means editors must be excellent communicators and diplomats. They are excellent providers of feedback who help elevate CNN's storytelling across a range of digital platforms.
• Daily editing that improves our digital storytelling with accuracy and fairness
• Help manage editing workflow across all our features team
• Edit and publish fast-breaking news
• Edit special projects
• Be the final copy editing eyes on content from our assignment editors as needed
• Collaborate with visuals, audio, video, programming and other digital teams daily

Editors will be called on to write as needed -- their bylines will be occasionally seen solo or as a contributing name.

Editors are often the final step before a story goes to the programming team to get distributed to millions of people worldwide. All editors work intently to make sure our stories are accurate and fair so that we continue to grow the trust between CNN and our audiences.

The Essentials
• College degree preferred
• 5+ years of editorial experience
• Ability to provide clear feedback to writers
• Ability to set and meet deadlines
• Ability to edit in real-time breaking news situations
• Features content experience as a writer or editor is a plus
• This position is required to work in person at one of our locations in the United States. WarnerMedia requires anyone working in our workplaces in the US to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
