Senior Accountant

WHO WE ARE

The Finance Department of Vox Media is looking for a strong Senior Accountant to join their Accounting team. The candidate will report to the Director of Accounting and will be responsible for assisting with month end close duties, completing ad hoc financial close projects, and working with various employees across numerous departments to maintain accurate financial records.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Prepare month-end expense accruals for multiple workstreams and maintain detailed schedules of accrued expenses to ensure expenses are recognized in the correct periods.
• Reconcile corporate credit cards accounts.
• Review and reconcile accounts payable balances and transactions.
• Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Review and reconcile intercompany transactions.
• Complete assigned month and quarter end close journal entries.
• Collaborate in the analysis of trended reports and research discrepancies.
• Support external auditor requests.
• Identify areas for improvement and update internal policies and process documentation.
• Work collaboratively with other members of finance to assist with expense forecast and variance explanations.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in written communication.
• Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis and special projects as required.
• Cultivate and maintain effective relationships within the finance team and across departments.

WHO YOU ARE
• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger accounting at a growing company with a background in related US GAAP accounting, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a complex accounting environment including experience with accruals and prepaids.
• Strong IT application skills – Expert-level Excel including extensive experience with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with all levels within an organization.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to work under pressure while maintaining an emphasis on attention to detail, quality, and positivity.
• Self-motivation and desire to continually improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of processes
• Demonstrate integrity, respect, commitment to excellence, and collaboration skills.
• High level of attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and ability to manage large datasets.
• Ability to prioritize demands and meet deadlines.
• Bonus points for:
• In-progress or completed CPA certification
• Experience working in the Media/Advertising Industry
• Experience with Netsuite, Concur, Coupa

This job is designated as flex, with DC/NY candidates preferred.
