Job Description

We are looking for a Media Cloud Engineer to join VICE's Media Engineering team. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the evolution of VICE's core media systems and contribute to the development of new workflows, applications and integrations. The Media Engineering team is part of a global media technology and production services department. The Media Cloud Engineer will serve as the centre point for internal development working on cloud-based media systems, integrations, and workflow orchestration. This role will work closely with the Media Systems Architect, developing new workflows, applications, and scripts, working closely with the DevOps team, and third-party vendors, contractors, and system integrators. They become the expert on Vice's systems and the main point of contact for any API and systems specific queries, collaborating with teams around them to produce top quality work without losing sight of the overarching business objectives. The perfect candidate will maintain implicit trust with senior business stakeholders and be more than happy to get their hands dirty with our in-house product design and engineering teams every day.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with a global media engineering team, cultivating a robust and collaborative working environment.
• Understand and build upon VICE's Media Systems deployment strategy.
• Innovate to leverage the latest cloud technologies, infrastructure and methodologies to help Vice Media Group embrace the global potential of cloud technology.
• Adopt a CICD workflow to develop, deploy, and adapt your work to meet the needs of the business.
• Provide input for systems architecture design and application architecture.
• Plan, design, and build integration scripts, applications and orchestration workflows.
• Develop, Deploy, Test and Implement solutions in collaboration with the Media Engineering team, DevOps, MediaSupport, Post Production and other key business stakeholders.
• Help identify innovation opportunities and work with the Media Systems Architect to promote continuous feedback into the business priority development roadmap.
• Document work and take part in regular code review with the Media Engineering and DevOps teams.
• Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure organizational support and buy-in, gather requirements, prioritize workloads, and maintain a backlog for upcoming engineering initiatives.
• Continuously work on self-development, personal learning, and new technology research, with access to training programmes and a commitment to acquiring new skills useful to the role.

SCRIPTING/DEVELOPMENT SKILLS
• Proficiency scripting in Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, Bash
• Experience with REST API integration
• AWS Infrastructure and cloud services experience required
• AWS Lambda function experience desirable
• Github, Postman, Terraform, development and deployment desirable
• Experience or knowledge of working with Iconik Media Asset Management system a plus

QUALIFICATIONS
• 4+ years professional experience working in a relevant engineering or development role.
• Previous experience working in the media a plus.
• Proven ability to deliver projects in cross-functional teams.
• Track record of defining, launching and iterating system/workflow integrations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Strong user experience and technical sensibilities.
• Project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Technical Degree, e.g. Computer Science or relevant equivalent qualification or industry experience in this field prefered.
