Job Description

Summary of Position

The Manager of Broadcast IT Engineering – Production will assist the Director of Broadcast IT Engineering with technology innovation, support and maintenance of Starz Creative Services, Media Exchange, Motion Graphics, Post Production, and QC/CC departments along with their associated storage and network infrastructures in all Starz locations. The Manager role will provide technical leadership and guidance across all broadcast-related technology platforms and departments, as well as project planning and budgeting, overseeing equipment purchases, installation planning and documentation efforts.

Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee the activities of 24 x 7 Broadcast IT Engineering staff
• Assist Director of Broadcast IT Engineering in development, preparation and implementation of department capital and operating budgets along with long range project planning
• Conceive and manage Engineering department capital projects, including systems design, equipment selection, purchasing, installation and implementation
• Prioritize technical projects and system upgrades according to Engineering resources and considerations in impact to systems integrity and availability
• Develop new systems, processes, and procedures as necessary to ensure project focus
• Recommend, evaluate and monitor current and future broadcast technologies to accommodate for transitions in hardware and software solutions
• Provide regular instructor-led and online training opportunities, mentoring, and performance evaluations for the Engineering staff
• Develop and maintain a clear, well-defined program for Engineering staff career growth and advancement

Qualifications & Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field and/or equivalent experience
• Minimum seven years of progressive experience in all facets of broadcast engineering and production technologies
• Minimum three years of team management experience
• Minimum three years of engineering project management experience
• Effective and positive leadership skills
• Proven ability to lead a team working from home or remote locations
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and proficiency in establishing priorities with multiple projects under tight deadlines
• Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills

• Advanced ability to architect and implement forward-thinking, innovative and flexible procedures, processes and systems designs
• Advanced working knowledge of Storage Area Networks and file systems
• Advanced working knowledge of Metadata Controller management
• Advanced working knowledge of File Archiving/LTO procedures and support
• Advanced working knowledge of Fibre Channel infrastructure, switch fabric configuration and management
• Advanced working knowledge of industry standard post-production video and audio file formats
• Strong working knowledge of Cloud-based services, architectures, workflows and applications for post-production editing
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of complex media systems and workflows encompassing file ingest, transcoding and delivery
• Strong working knowledge of Digital Asset Management systems integration and support
• Strong working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux workstations and servers
• Strong working knowledge of commonly used IP, SD/HD/UHD SDI video and digital audio protocols and standards
• Working knowledge of and troubleshooting skills for IP Network and Ethernet connectivity including: TCP/IP, UDP, VLANs, and multicasting

Compensation

$83,500 – $129,300
