Job Description
The E.W. Scripps company is recruiting for a Vice President (VP) of Local Media Sales. This VP holds a premier sales role within the local media division, tasked with setting the strategic direction and driving all revenue-generating initiatives in both local and national advertising markets. This position involves creating both short-term and long-term sales and revenue programs, with a commitment to meeting and surpassing the organization's advertising sales revenue targets. In addition, the VP manages revenue responsibilities for various local assets, including television, digital, mobile, social media, and emerging platforms that support our local markets.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
• Lead sales strategies and initiatives for Scripps local media operations
• Set and oversee vision for development of new revenue opportunities across broadcast, digital, mobile and other new media
• Prospect and negotiate revenue generating opportunities for the division with programmers, advertisers and vendors
• Work closely with operating stations' general managers, sales management and leadership to define KPI's around goals for multiple platforms, review and communicate sales strategies and revenue opportunities, identify synergies across the division, recruit world class sales management talent, develop appropriate sales training programs and analyze opportunities to enhance workflow efficiencies
• Develop and maintain relationships with key advertising agencies and companies that support local and national advertising
• Create new revenue generating partnerships and programs to benefit local markets
• Track sales performance against objectives and inform management of results
• Develop the local media division around revenue budgets; participate in annual budgetary process
• Evaluate programming opportunities for stations with return on investment cost analysis
• Participate in the TVB, NAB and other broadcast, internet and mobile trade groups; represent the company at industry events
• Work closely with corporate local media team on group initiatives
• Identify emerging media marketplaces; develop revenue opportunities and strategically assess risk to legacy media platform

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• BS/BA in related discipline; advanced degree preferred
• Generally, 10+ years of experience in sales and revenue strategy; media experience preferred
• Ability to travel up to 50%
• Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Ability to inspire and motivate stations to maximize potential for revenue and segment profit success
• Ability to identify and communicate changes in media ad spending
• Ability to create competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans focused on revenue growth
• Solid understanding of media advertising and how businesses work; knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends and information affecting sales; knows the competition; understands media audience rating systems and digital audience measurement and research
• Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups
