Executive Director, Staff and Operations

Vox Media's SB Nation is one of the largest-digital sport networks with more than 300 individual fan-centric sports communities. Our network is powered by the most respected digital-native sports journalists.

We are currently looking for an Executive Director of Staff and Operations. Reporting to SB Nation's General Manager, this person will need to think strategically and broadly about SB Nation, helping to develop a team-focused culture that brings our audience strategy to life. This person would also be responsible for coordinating internal communications between SB Nation and Vox Media, the operational processes that facilitate them, and the senior staff overseeing them. This role will also manage a team of operations specialists.

What you'll do:
• Leadership: as a part of the Executive Team, think strategically and lead effectively within the SB Nation team. Exhibit the Vox Media Values and be a resource for others.
• Management: manage and effectively motivate a team of operators, offering support and development opportunities in order to deliver results.
• Communications: be the connection across SB Nation as well as between SB Nation and Vox Media. Ensure that the right messages are meeting the right audiences at the right time.
• Partner with our leadership team to make sure to build employee culture across all new hires, ensuring they are impactful additions to the team.

What you'll bring:
• Strong organization skills, a self starting approach
• People Management experience required
• The ability to take an idea or vision and translate it into a plan that can be operationalized
• The ability to be an effective manager; experience hiring, developing, coaching direct reports
• Editorial Operations management experience prioritized
• Project management experience highly valued
• Demonstrated ability to work with people across levels and disciplines
• Highly effective communication style, both written and verbal
