Overview

Do you possess landscaping and maintenance knowledge while being passionate about sports? We are seeking a Manager of Turf Operations to lead all aspects of the San Antonio FC turf operations to include the home stadium, Toyota Field along with fields of the STAR Soccer Complex. The incumbent will lead a hardworking and diverse grounds team to include interviewing and hiring top talent, training staff to perform essential functions while overseeing field maintenance of athletic fields. In partnership with the Director of Toyota Field, he/she will provide administrative support in estimating, budgeting, and achieving fan experience goals.

Responsibilities
• Facility Maintenance- Supervise and manage a team of Groundskeepers and ensure all facilities throughout the complex are in good repair and operating safely and efficiently. Duties include mowing, fertilizing, and cultivating.
• Fan Experience- Coordinate and maintain a standard of quality customer service consistent with SS&E Family standards. Handle concerns effectively and positively. Problem solve and overcome barriers to provide outstanding customer service.
• Team Development and Oversight-Select, hire, train and supervise a team of professionals in Turf, Landscape and Operation Management and other areas to ensure the organization's policies and procedures are properly maintained, all resources are accurately run, and all organizational goals are met in a timely manner.
• Planning & Allocation- Plan, establish, prioritize and implement goals to meet timelines. Monitor progress toward objectives and adjust plans as necessary to reach them. Allocate and schedule staff to jobs/work assignments to assure their availability and maximum utilization according to production planning process. Anticipate possible issues or problems that may develop and actively utilize the appropriate resources to address potential problems.
• Technical and Professional Knowledge- Lead and maintain staff certifications. Ensures training processes are in place and crucial knowledge is applied to perform job responsibilities. Uses all the resources at their disposal to stay informed of the latest developments in their area of expertise.
• Perform additional duties as required by senior leadership.

Qualifications
• 5 years' experience in Turf and Landscaping at large complexes, recreation centers and or golf courses mandatory. This includes, but not limited to turf grass management and sprigging, sod cutting and installation, irrigation management, mowing, trimming and use of blowers and fertilizing with a walk-behind fertilizer.
• 2-3 years' experience with diverse maintenance responsibilities, including building upkeep.
• Preferred experience field marking and logo painting.
• Working knowledge of warm season grasses.
• Basic knowledge of Irrigation systems.
• Athletic field lights scheduling software required.
• Highly proficient verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience leading staff and managing multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong ability to multi-task, interpersonal skills, and communication skills.
• Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors 85-95%.
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license.
• Must have the ability to pass a standard background screening.
• Must obtain Texas Pesticide Applicators license within 180 days of employment.
• This position will be required to work onsite 90% of the time with the ability to work remotely up to 10%.
