Publishing teams focus on designing, orchestrating, and delivering holistic experiences across the gaming, esports, and entertainment product portfolio. Publishing's core capabilities include marketing, commercial partnerships, player support, localization, and cross-product experiences.

As Director, Global Publishing Strategy (Shanghai), you will report to Publishing's Head of Strategy and be part of the integrated Publishing Strategy & Operations team. You will partner with the China Publishing team to build and lead global centers of excellence, developing publishing best practices and operationalizing them across Riot's global businesses. Your thought leadership and ability to activate teams globally will be instrumental in elevating Riot's publishing efforts for critical audiences, such as mobile.gamers.

Based in our Shanghai office, you will be working closely day to day with our China teams and partners, collaborating deeply with publishing teams around the world, while reporting to and maintaining a close connection to Riot's headquarters in Los Angeles. This role involves up to 10-15% international travel.

Role Overview:

Publishing Strategy - Serve as a senior adviser on global publishing strategies, with a focus on leveraging China & APAC best practices
• Develop expertise on Riot's competitors, publishing partners and existing operations in China & APAC markets
• Develop expertise on Riot's product portfolio, publishing strategies, and target audiences across global markets
• Adapt China & APAC gaming market best practices for Riot's publishing strategies in other markets globally

Publishing mobilization - Orchestrate across teams globally to operationalize global publishing strategies
• Lead operating model initiatives (e.g., org and process design) to elevate Riot's global publishing effectiveness and efficiency
• Design shared services operations models (e.g., creative asset production) and collaborate with execution leaders to implement
• Design, launch, and lead global ''centers of excellence'' that connect the dots between strategy, mobilization, and execution

Team & leadership - Serve as a senior strategy leader and mentor at Riot
• Build and directly manage a team of strategic advisors
• Serve as a thought leader and mentor for publishing leaders across Riot
• Design and lead global leadership rituals and forums

Required Qualifications:
• 12+ years experience (or 10+ years with an advanced degree) in strategic advisory, publishing, and/or general management roles
• 4+ years of management experience, including experience managing other managers
• Experience developing business strategies for a video game or similar high tech / entertainment business in China or APAC
• Experience translating business vision into operational strategy for globally distributed, multi-functional teams
• Business fluency in English

Desired Qualifications:
• Business fluency in Mandarin
• Experience working in video game publishing
• Experience designing and leading research and analytics projects
• MBA or other relevant advanced degree
