Associate Marketing Director, Knopf

Alfred A Knopf, an imprint of the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and a storied leader in commercial and literary publishing, home to some of the most iconic authors in the world, including Toni Morrison, Emily St. John Mandel, Cormac McCarthy, Haruki Murakami, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and more, is seeking an Associate Marketing Director to join the Knopf marketing team.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Director, you will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of developing innovative marketing campaigns for bestselling, award-winning books and authors and collaborate across divisions on campaigns and initiatives. Working closely with the entire publishing team, you will lead in the creation and execution of customized campaigns across Knopf's hardcover and paperback lists. This position is suited for an experienced book marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces innovation, and is well versed in current market trends and strategies.

The Role:
• Create and implement innovative, top-tier title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer trends to drive awareness, engagement, and sales of new publications and key legacy titles
• Manage title-marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, analytics, and budgets to help maximize ROI
• Coordinate seasonal schedule and deadlines surrounding campaign planning
• Liaise across Publicity, Editorial, and Audience Development departments to implement cohesive campaigns and promotions
• Communicate detailed campaign updates to editors, publishers, sales teams, agents, and authors and present campaigns formally in key meetings.
• Maintain awareness of the adult book market and publishing industry
• Identify opportunities for enhancing and improving imprint campaigns-new tools, platforms, partners, outlets, best practices, marketing trends, etc.

The Essentials:
• A strong history in title marketing for literary and commercial fiction, memoir, and nonfiction in all formats
• Extensive knowledge of book marketing including current trends in literary fiction and narrative nonfiction
• Proven ability to create strong integrated campaigns, as well as programmatic and search advertising strategies
• Fluency in key marketing concepts and tools, including consumer insights, sales analysis, budgeting, social media marketing, media planning, and email
• Demonstrated project management, communication, budget management, organizational, prioritization, and presentation skills
• Superior problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude
• Excellent written and oral communications skills, high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organization
• Ability to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company
