Status: Full-time/Regular/Exempt

Supervisor: Vice President, Software Development & Operations

LOCATION: Alexandria, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite/2 days offsite)

Position Overview:

The Software Development & Operations team is responsible for Media and Enterprise software solutions, digital asset management, media product development and integration, and Information Technology. The team is focused on modernizing PBS media systems and information technology infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President, Software Development & Operations, the Technical Business Analyst II understands business processes and how to leverage technology to optimize them. The incumbent is adept at working with key stakeholders to match business requirements to enterprise business applications functionality and address gaps through process and/or software changes.

This individual has a strong analytical mindset, accuracy, attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities. In all work, s/he uses experience and judgment to independently solve problems, make informed decisions, and take ownership of outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Planning and Innovation
• Establish a strong, positive relationship with staff in the appropriate business units.

• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders within the organization to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with unparalleled attention to detail and accuracy.

• Develop an understanding of how the business works from a process standpoint and how it uses various technical solutions.

• Gather industry knowledge to become a subject-matter expert (SME) in the identification, development and implementation of best practices across the organization.

• Aligns technology solutions with business strategies and enterprise architecture comprised of moderate to complex business processes.

• Investigates and develops positions on technologies and business issues.

• Works with Product Managers and the business units to identify and document current state processes, which are used to inform business requirements.

• Clearly articulates recommendations and benefits in business language, use cases and measures the contribution of projects to business value.

• Develop and maintain thorough documentation of internal processes/procedures and individual projects

• Identifies and communicates opportunities to automate tasks.

• Prioritizes business line demands.

• Translates business requirements into functionality.
• Additional Responsibilities
• Experience in writing test scripts and test plans.

• Assists in designing and delivering training and training materials of moderate complexity to non-technical business stakeholders.

• Works closely with Product Managers and Engineers to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.

• Effective time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and respond to emergency situations effectively.

• Ability to work well both independently and in team, establishing and maintaining cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility.

Requirements for success:
• 6 or more years of relevant technical and business work experience.

• Professional business analysis certification desired (IIBA - CBAP, PMI-PBA, etc)

• In-depth knowledge of business operations, systems requirements and IT processes and technologies

• Experience in requirements gathering process for IT systems

• Experience in business process engineering and information governance.

• Project management proficiency – proven ability to successfully lead projects.

• Strong, broad knowledge of the media and entertainment industry preferred

• Strong understanding of user experience best practices

• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and ceremonies and experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.

• Experience with data analytics, querying, reporting, and dashboard visualization

• Experience with collaboration platforms (Confluence, JIRA, Slack, MS Teams).

• Experience with Power BI and building reports using external data sources.

• Demonstrated knowledge in system upgrades, integrations, configurations, customizations and support

• Working knowledge of Microsoft O365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) preferred

• Results oriented / self-directed ability to drive change

• Strong client interface and presentation skills

• Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required.
