Job Description
The Regional Business Manager oversees and manages financial and accounting responsibilities for NewsNation and Multicast Antenna TV. NewsNation is an American subscription television network that is owned by the Nexstar Media Group, and is the company's only wholly owned, national cable -originated television channel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide business planning and analysis to various groups within the organization (Finance, Accounting, GM – General Manager and RVP – Regional Vice President).
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets in conjunction with GM and Finance Manager.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial analysis and reporting.
• Work closely with General Managers and Department Heads to capture and translate business activity for monthly and quarterly reporting periods.
• Review and approve invoices.
• Communicate and translate key business information between WGNA and the Corporate office.
• Analyze and explain monthly budget variances.
• Oversee the monthly commission (i.e., Worldlink) approval process.
• Oversee the monthly AR collection monitoring.
• Oversee recording of Wide Orbit Revenue process.
• Oversee Broadcast Rights accounting for NewsNation.
• Preparation of quarterly SOX compliance package.
• Preparation of accounting journal entries related to i) prepaid, ii) accrued expenses, iii) broadcast rights, iv) under delivery reserve, v) bad debt, vi) California vacation accrual.
• Review and complete certain balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monthly close responsibilities.
• Maintain Trade Agreements and operating contracts executed during the quarter.
• Perform certain other functions as needed.
• Enforce internal control and other corporate accounting policies and procedures.
• Undertake special projects as directed by GM, RVP, SVP – Controller, and Assistant Controller.
Requirements & Skills
• Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience CPA and/or MBA preferred
• Understanding and familiarity with financial reporting analysis, accounting, sales, traffic, and payroll systems
• Strong analytical, problem solving , and communication skills
• Must be well organized, confident, flexible, multi-tasker, and be able to work independently
• Strong team player and exhibit great collaboration skills
• Builds rapport and effective relations and uses diplomacy and tact
• Finds sources for input, makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment
