Job Description

Netherrealm Studios, a division of WB Games Inc., is looking for an exceptionally skilled Environment Artist to help create high quality assets for our future console titles. The ideal candidate will have strong sculpting/modeling skills, proficiency with physically based shading systems, and a team-oriented collaborative approach to art production.

The Daily
• Using industry standard 3D packages, create high quality, realistic environment art assets based on concept art and reference sheets. These assets will include architecture, props, custom materials, and skeletal meshes.
• Setup meshes and materials in Unreal 4. Special focus on environmental storytelling through set dressing.
• Ensure that art assets are performant, and fit within their memory budgets. Fix bugs as needed.
• Provide constructive feedback during regularly scheduled art reviews and help maintain the quality bar established by the Art Director and Lead Artist.

The Essentials
• 3 to 5 years of game industry experience.
• In depth knowledge of Unreal Engine 4.
• Solid understanding of the workflows required to create an asset from concept to blockout to final quality, and optimization for real-time rendering.
• Proficiency with Physically Based Shading including material painting in Substance Painter.
• Advanced modeling/sculpting skills using Maya/3DSMax and Zbrush.
• In-depth knowledge of value, composition, color and attention to detail in environmental design.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
• Receptive to direction and performs well within a team environment.

The Nice to Haves
• At Least a 2-year 2D/3D art degree, architecture degree, or equivalent. BFA is preferred.
• Proficiency with custom material creation, and Substance Designer
• At least one shipped AAA title
