Job Description

Responsibilities

Serve as primary management-side Labor Relations point for Universal Studios Hollywood theme park business of NBCUniversal covering a population of approximately 6300 union-represented employees across thirteen collective bargaining agreements. The role reports to the Senior Vice President of Labor and Employment for Universal Parks and Resorts and will be located in Los Angeles, California.
• Provide strategic advice and counsel to internal clients, including HR professionals, business leaders and USH management teams, regarding labor laws and union contractual obligations and in furtherance of business objectives.
• Act as labor legal counsel in grievances, arbitrations and in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board.
• Represent management in collective bargaining including developing negotiation proposals and strategies to meet business needs and goals, developing and executing contract implementation plans, drafting contract revisions, and serving as collective bargaining lead for assigned bargaining units.
• Conduct mid-term collective bargaining and affects bargaining as needed to meet business initiatives.
• Provide advice, counsel and training to management and human resources partners regarding the management of union-represented employees.
• Support positive workforce initiatives for non-union populations.
• Develop and maintain strong, constructive working relationships with labor union representatives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• Law degree
• Admitted to practice law, California bar preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of years of labor relations/labor law experience (5 years for Counsel/7 years for Sr. Counsel)

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Los Angeles.
• May be required to travel on occasion.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Desired Experience:
• Labor litigation/arbitration experience.
• Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements.
• Collective bargaining experience preferred.
• Experience advising employers regarding California and federal employment laws preferred.
• Experience managing employees preferred.
