IT Field Specialist

Job Description

Responsibilities
The Field Operations IT department is charged with supporting NBC News and all its subsidiaries and digital properties, including MSNBC and NBC News Now, with remote broadcast capabilities to cover all major news events worldwide. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to work with a team or alone under extreme conditions and deadlines and deal with a flexible work schedule including the possibility of holidays, weekends, evenings, and overtime. Candidate must be available for overnight and/or overseas travel to natural disasters or conflict-ridden parts of the world, or otherwise hazardous locations as news warrants.
-Maintain and apply current knowledge of information technology; keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and help determine if/how they can be used to add value to the business.
-Work with a team of both represented and non-represented employees to advance new computing and connectivity concepts to innovative solutions to support emerging global News Gathering and communication technologies.
-Provide IT support for local users, remote broadcasts, foreign and domestic news bureaus, and company-wide initiatives.
-Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including immediate response to breaking news.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an IT support role.
- Thorough knowledge of PC and Mac hardware,

networking equipment, and assorted computer

peripherals and printers.
- Intermediate knowledge of routing and switching

concepts and technologies. Experience working with

firewalls, proxies, QoS, SDWAN, unified

communications, VoIP, and VPN.
- Experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting

the following in a corporate environment: Windows 10,

Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Mac OS

X, and iOS.
- Advanced skills with all MS Office and O365 applications

particularly MS Outlook.

Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work 5 days a week in Long Island

City, NY.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the

United States.
- Valid US Driver's License and passport with no limitation
on international travel.
- Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19

vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated,

submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days

following commencement of employment.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the

commencement of employment or adhere to enhanced

protocols if Company determines your job position

requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
- Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19

workplace safety policies and protocols.

Desired Characteristics
- BS Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work

experience.
- Detail oriented and self-starter with the ability to work in a

team environment.
- Hands on ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair IT

related issues.
- Knowledge of physical connectivity and procedure for

terminating Fiber, Ethernet, and Coax cabling.
