Description

Are you a self-starter and motivated individual looking to direct a diverse slate of productions? MTV is seeking a Director to lead productions and programming initiatives in various content genres including Unscripted/Reality/Format Series, Studio/Multi-Cam Series and Specials, Comedy/Variety Shows and Development.
Overview & Responsibilities:
• Partner with creative colleagues throughout the process of seeing a project from inception through final delivery
• Strategize to ensure the creative vision is produced and delivered successfully while meeting all creative, operational, schedule and financial targets
• Work with the production team and other partners to develop the strategy, process, and appropriate resources for successful implementation of project timelines and budgets
• Source, hire and lead production teams and crews, establishing clear goals while developing and leading through the production process
• Ability to build large scale series budgets and evaluate internal and 3rd party company budgets, production plans and cash flows
• Drive productions across all stages, connecting departments and overseeing the process for a successful execution
• Work with various departments throughout the organization to establish clear goals that meets department and company initiatives
• Build partnerships with internal groups to cultivate, manage and enhance relationships with all departments including Business and Legal Affairs, Production Finance, Post Production Operations, Labor Relations, Tech and Studio Ops, Brand Creative, Media Licensing and Music Strategy, Security, Facilities
• Develop strong relationships with 3rd party production counterparts to improve collaboration and a working alliance for producing quality programming
• Collaborate with external production companies, vendors, contractors and project-based employees to ensure goals are completed
• Partner with BALA and Finance to come up with creative solutions that benefit the bottom-line while still satisfying the Creative needs.
• Partner with Finance teams in reporting, adjusting EFCs and building cash flows as well as actualizing series, special projects and development
• Continually evaluate how productions function and how we can be more efficient, evolve to meet company mandates and programming changes, how to operate more effectively, streamline workflow, reduce costs and adapt to new policies and procedures

Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years experience in Production/Production Management in a network or production company capacity
• Strong knowledge and experience of working on hands-on Production (in-house) as well as the 3rd party production company landscape and personnel
• Extensive Production financials and budgeting expertise (including Move Magic Budgeting, Excel)
• Experience managing and leading teams, dealing with performance related feedback and leadership
• Knowledge of union/labor/guild relations and/or experience working on DGA/IATSE/SAG-AFTRA productions

• High tolerance for a constantly changing environment, as well as the ability to be proactive and a great teammate in the evolving media landscape
• Works well under pressure and with moving deadlines
• Extensive organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Demonstrate the ability to be a diplomatic and impactful communicator
