Overview

Summary The Manager – Community Relations will be responsible for overseeing annual fan initiatives and programming for the Community Relations department, partnering with internal and external partners to strengthen the Club's outreach in the community. This position will also be responsible for the administrative functions of the department, internal volunteer program and supervision of interns and seasonal staff.

• Manage the Community Relations annual fan initiatives including, but not limited to, Play Ball, Grand Slam Teacher of the Month Award, Community MVP Award, Nellie Award, and RBI Athlete of the Month.
• Cultivate and maintain partnerships with organizations across the Greater Milwaukee area to help build fan and other community initiatives that align with MBBC goals.
• Oversee logistics of annual fan initiatives including planning up to and throughout the event.
• Responsible for administrative functions for Community Relations department including processing donation requests, correspondence from fans, calendar of events, travel and hotel arrangements for players/alumni for special events, fulfillment of game tickets and on-field credentials for special guests, invoices and expense reports.
• Maintain the community outreach volunteer program and participation.
• Oversee operations of the Brewers Family Room during the baseball season, utilized by wives and children of our uniformed personnel. Duties include recruitment, training, scheduling and management of Family Childcare Attendants, as well as activity coordination, policy enforcement and supply inventory. May be required to fill in as attendant, as necessary.
• Recruit and manage seasonal interns for department. Assist interns with requests from fans and community organizations and fulfill as needed (donations, appearance requests, etc.)
• Manage and keep current the Community Relations webpage on Brewers.com.
• Assist with accompanying wives of uniformed personnel, uniformed personnel, and other staff to community events and appearances inside and outside the ballpark.
• Assist with day-of-game activities and pre-game initiatives involving school groups, nonprofit groups, in-game experience recipients and players' families.
• Work closely with other business departments (Brewers Community Foundation, Communications, Social Media, Broadcasting/Photography, Marketing) on awareness and execution of community relations activities.
• Create the monthly Beyond the Diamond newsletters highlighting community outreach activities for internal distribution.
• Communicate and escort VIPs and auction winners to their designated location for in-game experiences such as batting practice watch, ceremonial first pitch, etc.
• Attend nonprofit fundraising events/galas/luncheons to strengthen the ballclub's reach into the community as needed.
• Participate in scheduled MLB industry and local community organization meetings.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and a minimum of three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience managing personnel is preferred but not required.

Computer Skills

To perform the job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Hours

Business hours are Monday – Friday 9 am – 5pm, however, additional hours may be required on weekends, evenings and some holidays. Some travel on behalf of the club may be required.
