Mikros Animation is happy to announce a new collaboration with Netflix on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the upcoming animated event series based on the Roald Dahl book'' Written, Directed and Executive Produced by Taika Waititi.

We are looking for a Surfacing Set Lead to join our teams at Mikros Animation for this new adventure! 🍫 🍭

The Set Surfacing Lead manages all their department's operations including the look, UV's, textures and shading of the film's sets. They draw on both strong technical skills and an aesthetic sense to produce high-quality textures, true to the style of the film. Their missions include:
• Actively contributes to the creation of the final look of the sets and props of the project
• Works in conjunction with leads from other Environment departments to ensure assets are aligned with the overall project design and references provided by the client
• Works in collaboration with the CG Supervisor, the Environment Supervisor and the Surfacing Set & Props Supervisor to define the texture and shading workflow related to the pipeline
• Collaborates with the Leads of the departments concerned in order to prepare the assets for rendering
• Responsible for the optimization and consistency of the workflow, tools and resources of the Sets & Props surfacing department
• Technically and artistically guides his team of artists to achieve the expected level of quality while respecting delivery times
• Brings creative ideas and solutions to optimize the level of visual and technical quality. Contributes to the manufacture of assets at 50% of its working time

Qualifications

Skills required...
• Experiences in texture creation and scenery shading in 3D animation projects
• Have previously held a team manager role
• Strong creative skills and a thorough understanding of the techniques required for design interpretation and accurate material matching
• Excellent understanding of lighting, colors, contrasts, shades, shadows
• Excellent mastery of Maya, Substance Painter and good knowledge of UV unfolding tools
• Familiar with color management issues of feature films or 3D animation series
• Good leadership and excellent communication skills
• Good level of English imperative
• Good use of Shotgrid

& valued assets...
• Experience in feature films and/or animated series
• Knowledge of Katana, Arnold, Substance Designer
• Technical problem-solving skills
