About KTVF/KXDF:

KTVF/KXDF/KFXF are the NBC, CBS and MeTV/MyNetwork affiliated stations serving the interior of Alaska with award winning local news, great entertainment and public service to the Fairbanks community. KTVF and KXDF, our news producing stations, have been the launching point for many journalists and producers who have moved up in the ranks and are now successfully filling key roles in stations throughout the country.

Job Summary/Description:

KTVF/KXDF is seeking an experienced reporter/anchor who is a great storyteller to lead our evening newscasts. This position requires delivering daily news stories for digital and broadcast with accuracy, integrity and quality.

Research, gather, write and report news stories for on-air and online in the most accurate, appealing, timely and creative way using all sources.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Report ''live'' on the scene, especially during breaking news
• Conduct interviews in the field and in studio
• Shoot, write and edit video and sound daily for broadcast and digital platforms on deadline
• Operate broadband equipment for coverage, as needed
• Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
• Demonstrate sound news judgment, collaborate with others to present the story
• Enterprise hard-news, research-driven packages under tight deadlines
• Pitch stories
• Attend/host/speak at community service, schools, and community events; meet and greet viewers
• Post and update stories on the web, often remotely while traveling
• Provide news content for social media, including Facebook, and interact with viewers
• Possess a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history
• Enter scripts, CG text and times into newsroom software (ENPS) prior to newscasts
• Use knowledge of appropriate field lighting to enhance overall news presentation
• Critique, feedback, and training are part of the job
• Communicate regularly with the digital staff and other appropriate staff members during breaking news
• Follow clothing and appearance guidelines
• Must be a visual storyteller; perform creative stand-ups and explanatory live shorts
• Serve as an anchor on newscasts and digital platforms, as assigned
• Evenings, weekends and holidays may be required
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or other related field preferred
• Experience with broadcast/digital cameras, newsroom software (ENPS), and non-linear editing
• Be able to write in a clear, concise, conversational manner
• Must possess excellent interview and conversational writing skills
• Excellent live reporting skills and strong on-camera presentation skills required
• Basic computer knowledge including newsroom software (such as ENPS), Microsoft applications and internet use
• Able to produce and post content to digital platforms
• Intermediate knowledge of social media
• Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
• Work well in a team environment
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
• Strong initiative and attention to detail is required
• Demonstrate solid news judgment and journalistic ethics (SPJ Code of Ethics)
• Maintain professional and ethical conduct at the station and in the community
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving in a manner that will work well with co-workers, supervisors and viewers/online news consumers
• Strong research skills, including the ability to navigate on-line search engines
• Must stay current with local news
• Ability to enterprise local, hard-news stories
