Job Summary/Description:
We're looking for an experienced Director of Photography/Chief Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) who loves telling stories with memorable characters, impactful images and strong natural sound. You'll supervise the training, technical skill set, and storytelling growth of our MMJ staff through teaching, coaching and reviewing our MMJ's work daily. The Chief MMJ is required to turn (shoot/write/edit/voice) weekly stories for broadcast and digital platforms, illustrating the the award-winning, visual storytelling that Alaska's News Source is known for. This is an experienced, senior-level position in our newsroom.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Responsible for daily training, coaching, and mentoring for a team of multimedia journalists, focused on technical skill set development and visual story-telling
* Shooting, editing video and sound for broadcast and publication on all of the station's multimedia platforms (Grass Valley Edius experience is a plus)
* Writing and voicing stories as a multimedia journalist (experience with ENPS is a plus)
* Must be capable of gathering news independently or as part of a team
* Supervision and maintenance of MMJ gear, working in tandem with the Chief Photographer
* Writing and posting content on station's digital platforms (ARC CMS), editing digital video, and operating broadband live devices in the field (experience with Dejero and LIVEU is a plus)
* Driving a company vehicle and any other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
* 5+ years experience as a videographer and editor
* Management experience is a plus
* Strong verbal and written communicator
* Journalistic and ethical integrity
* Must have the desire to be at work during big breaking news, weather coverage and special events
* Must be able to stand, sit, lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and capable of working in all outdoor elements, as assigned
* Must maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record
