The Job

The primary function of this position is to aggressively track, traffic, archive, and process all media for the Creative Services and Strategic Operations & Production Departments (KYAC) for Cartoon, Cartoonito, Tooncast and HBO Max networks. This position handles all media requests from various sources (departments) and acquires the necessary material for production from CN Domestic and international resources. Also, this position is responsible for trafficking all media received and serves as point of contact for the MOC (Media Group) in Buenos Aires. Additionally, this position is also responsible for maintaining and coordinating all forms of media related to the Creative Services department for CNLA, Cartoonito, Tooncast and HBO Max. This position will perform all of the production requirements needed to track, deliver, and troubleshoot all media from these four networks and have daily interaction with Writer/Producers, Editors, Audio Engineers, and the Sales Team.
On the other side, this position will also be responsible for ingesting, creating metadata and cataloging all media for the department's Digital Asset tool (CNLA Share with CatDV) and virtual library. They will also work closely with the Turner Development team to improve our digital workflow and asset management tools as well as identify problems and beta test new developments.

The Daily
• Since the main responsibility of Creative Services is to create on-air and non-linear short-form content for Programming, Sales and Promotion, Marketing, Mobile, Online, Client Services and Digital, it is very important that the correct media (promos, packaging, menus, bugs, digital files, etc) is retrieved and disemminated to the correct parties involved. This position will continue to research, watch and process all media requests from the Production Department and it's producers and other members from various departments (some currently dispersed throughout the the world). This includes existing materials, as well as, aquiring materials for production from CN Domestic and international resources. However, this position will now be responsible for creating and managing internal FTP sites in order to fulfill these requests digitally. They must now be able to use batch conversion software such as Adobe Suit (Premiere, Encoder), Quicktime Pro, Vantage or Episode to edit and convert digital files to the various specifications of the requests (ie. compression rates and formats). Examples of these types of requests is that this position will be responsible for a monthly posting of cross channel promotions to an FTP site for all of the Marketing Departments throughout the Latin and Brazilian regions and fulfill similar requests for on-line.
• In order for these media requests to be completed in a timely and efficient manner, this position will continue to be responsible for maintaining a virtual database that will contain all (not just tapes, but all digital and creative files) of CNLA, Boomerang-LA, Cartoonito, HBO MAX, and Tooncast's media. This will include managing all elements of our digitaly library including masters, submasters, clip and element reels and viewing copies. It will also now include all digital files that exist on our Electronic Delivery server and our virtual library of assets in Cat_DV - CNLA Share. This position will also be responsible for updating media logs, inputing metadata into the asset database and preparing all materials for library submission.
• Another important aspect of this position is the trafficking and managing of all the media for CNLA/CNITO-LA/Tooncast and HBO Max to the appropriate parties to insure the assigned completion deadlines. This position will monitor all media traffic from Producers to the Audio Department, then from Audio to Operations and finally to the MOC. They will also serve as an operations point of contact between Creative Services and the MOC & VOD in Buenos Aires. This position must understand the technical procedures now used when transferring media to Buenos Aires MOC and how that material is ingested and readied for air. They must also be able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise during the production and delivery process. These procedures have changed greatly in the past year and continue to change as newer trafficking systems such as Aleph, FTP sites and the corporative network which are introduced and utilized. A much broader understanding of digital file types (codecs), servers, FTP sites, asset management (CatDV), and editing software is needed now.
• Furthermore, this position must also serve as an on-air graphic delivery ''back up'' and understand the procedures for sending graphic files, such as bugs and other secondary on-air events to Buenos Aires. In order to do this, they must be trained on the necessary hardware and software (Chyron or ICE proprietary software and hardware).
• Finally, this position will still report to the Manager-On-air Operations and will be able to give input on new procedures involving the department and receive input when necessary. This position must also be able to grow with the demands of the department and must take an intricate role in creating and evolving the procedures within. This person will work closely with developers from inside the company to improve the work flows we work the asset management tool. This position will also be able to assist in the beta testing of the newly developed systems within the department.

The Essentials
• 5 + years working in a TV broadcast environment
• 5 + years production experience working with a variety of media formats (digital media management/ post production experience)
• Proficiency in Mac / PC applications (ie. Microsoft Office and other production related software) a must
• -Must possess a keen troubleshooting mentality to assist with problems that arise in the production process.
• Must possess great communication skills since they will be communicating with a variety of departments. English written and reading is required
• The position requires a high level of organization focus on the detail and multitasking

The Nice to Haves
• Portuguese language skills are a plus
• Knowledge in media asset management systems (CATDV or comparable digital library asset management software)a plus
• Knowledge of IT,strategic planning, project management and logistics are an advantage.
• Knowledge of FTP management tools like Fetch or Filezilla a plus
• Working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Premiere, Adobe Encoder & Quicktime Pro a plus.
• Knowledge of transcoding software like Episode, Vanatge or Telestream an advantage.
• Knowledge of a broadcast traffic system / database a plus
• Delivery systems (FTP, Aspera, Signiant/Media Shuttle) experience a plus.
