JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fox5DC is looking for a meteorologist to join our news and weather team. Fox 5 operates out of state-of-the-art studios and facilities in the heart of downtown Bethesda, MD. We are surrounded by a restaurant scene boasting cuisines from around the world, high-end boutiques, outdoor markets and so much more! The Bethesda Metro station is just steps away from work. Employees have access to the onsite fitness center and building accommodations.

Candidates should have fully developed and polished anchoring, reporting and weather forecasting skills. This position is for a highly creative individual who is passionate about meteorology and news reporting. Must be able to demonstrate your experience with live shots and covering major weather events. Will work with producers to determine weather-related content for use on-air and online.

JOB HIGHLIGHTS

Will use forecasting knowledge and journalistic judgement to produce and present live coverage of feature weather reports and events on the news and on our digital platforms. Must be a compelling storyteller who connects with their viewers. Update daily weather graphics and maps using news systems and equipment. Research and generate story ideas to maximize news content. Daily collaboration with the assignment desk, producers, editors, photographers, technical production team and management. Will make public appearances on behalf of Fox 5 and perform the functions of a GA reporter as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE

A bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

4+ years of live news experience. Major market experience strongly preferred.

A valid driver's license and be able to drive.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Strong writing skills.

Friendly and collaborative spirit.

Local/national travel, weekends, holidays and varied hours required. Candidates must submit resume and video/link of recent work.
