Sr. Data Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer in Applied Machine Learning, you will work with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to deliver projects and systems critical to Fandango's business. We expect our Senior Data Engineers to be deeply technical, highly collaborative, versatile, and enthusiastic about taking on new problems across our businesses as we continue to build great experiences for fellow movie fans.

Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve data systems and services
• Perform code reviews and collaborate with peers on software solutions
• Work directly with data scientists to design, prototype, and operationalize machine learning models
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, retros, sprint planning, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and fix production issues as they occur
• Mentor team members with complex technical and design issues

Qualifications/Requirements
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of proven professional experience in data products and machine learning systems
• Deep understanding of statistical and machine learning models
• Professional experience in one or more of the following programming languages (Java, Scala, Python)
• Experience with distributed data storage and large-scale data processing (Spark, EMR, Hadoop, Hive)
• Experience with AWS data management (S3, Redshift, DynamoDB) and related tools (Athena, EMR, Glue)

Desired Characteristics

Preferred qualifications
• Experience collaborating with software engineers and data scientists
• Experience with data science workflow, from proof of concept development to operationalizing production models
• Familiar with software build, release, deployment and monitoring tools and practices
• Experience designing and building data warehousing and/or analytics platforms
• Experience working in an agile/scrum environment
