JOB SUMMARY

The ESPN Legal Department is seeking an Administrative Legal Assistant to join the organization. This role is an essential part of the team that provides all legal services to ESPN, including in connection with content acquisitions, production, marketing, trademarks.

This position provides executive support to the Assistant Chief Counsel and other attorneys in the Legal Department.

The Administrative Legal Assistant assists the legal department with a mixture of simple and semi-complex administrative duties, programs and projects. As the representative of your executives at ESPN, your professionalism, loyalty and attitude are a reflection of the office, and as such, are a critical component of its success.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Draft, distribute, and track both simple and semi-complex contracts and forms, along with similar legal documents
• Prepare confidential memos, correspondence and letters, and type all documents required by attorneys
• Assess department office supply levels, and manage purchase orders and vendor contracts
• Prepare regular reports and summaries -- you'll have tasks that you own completely
• Manage assigned attorneys' continuing legal education requirements and status
• Team with specific senior executive and mid-level attorneys from which virtually all assignments flow
• Execute a wide variety of administrative tasks and clerical functions for department attorneys, including travel and expense reporting, meeting arrangements, meal and voucher arrangements, and scheduling and schedule monitoring
• Interface with SAP in departmental financial matters
• Interface with finance function as necessary
• Handle incoming telephone calls from executives, senior managers, important clients and sponsors
• Upload finished contracts to legal database and file hard copies in law library
• Collaborate on projects by conducting research, writing, and fact-checking
• Assist with on-boarding new employees – you'll be the friendly face that newbies count on to answer all their questions, including many who are quite senior in the organization
• Mentor and train new support professionals in hard skills like computer programs, and soft skills like teamwork
• Plan high-profile, complex events like off-sites, as well as smaller-scale gatherings such as service recognition parties

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
• Mastery of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe, with the confidence to learn new programs when necessary
• Sharp written and verbal communication skills, including clean grammar, strong proofreading skills and a robust vocabulary
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines/deliverables
• Strong proficiency with all types of computers, phones and office equipment
• A calm head and steady hand to deal with the unexpected
• Complete reliability handling highly confidential information
• The desire to truly be helpful to your leaders and co-workers, to go the extra mile without being asked, and to build solid inter and intra-team relationships
• Some flexibility in your schedule – we value work/life balance, but in a pinch, a bit more time may be needed
• Very strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• A professional demeanor, positive outlook and can-do attitude

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Two or more years of applicable experience
• Working knowledge of selected legal procedures, terminology, and contract policies and standards within designated areas of team attorneys
• Working knowledge of contract or applicable document-development processes and maintenance standards for the company's master/standard contract files within areas of team attorneys
• Good skills in SAP, SharePoint, NetDocs and Concur
• Television or sports media experience
• Prior experience as paralegal
• Interest in a legal career

EDUCATION
• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Two or Four-Year College Degree
