Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the brand research team that supports Investigation Discovery. The Senior Manager, Research will help in leading research efforts related to content, marketing and communication activities, across all platforms, including linear and streaming, to ensure that the senior team and their staffs have a deep understanding of all elements affecting ID's performance.

This role will require a strong leader who is comfortable and highly competent in all areas of research. This person will need both creativity and attention to detail and will be expected to present findings and be an influencer of the direction of the brand. The Senior Manager, Research will be obsessed with ID's viewers; driven to develop and provide a deep understanding of them, ID's relationship with them on all platforms, and how that relationship can be deepened to drive the future success of the brand.

Responsibilities
• Overall, collaborate with VP of Research to develop and direct all network research efforts, utilizing primary research, Nielsen ratings data and other consumer databases to develop programming, scheduling and marketing strategies.
• Act as a strategic advisor to network executive management team, effectively voicing fact-based insights and recommendations on issues relating to business goals and strategies.
• Lead team in performing interpretive analyses to transform data into valuable information. Effectively communicate findings through written and physical presentations, as well as manage regular reporting and ad hoc requests to various network departments.
• Provide thought leadership across multiplatform measurement strategy.
• Oversee various stages of primary research including design, fieldwork, analysis and interpretation of research studies including program tests, development studies, as well as other qualitative and quantitative studies.
• In collaboration with research team members, develop and direct special Nielsen studies to explore opportunity areas for audience growth and understanding.
• Transform data into valuable and actionable insight, and communicate findings through written and stand-up presentations.
• Track and assess impact of marketing and promotional efforts and advise on media plans.
• Identify influencing industry changes and trends, and proactively inform team in order to stay competitive.
• Manage and mentor support for assigned staff.
• Manage vendor negotiations and relationships as required

Qualifications
• Minimum 6 years of research experience at a full-service market research company; media experience preferred.
• Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of Nielsen data and systems. Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities and knowledge of basic statistics required.
• Must have strong primary marketing research skills, including in-depth experience in a variety of research methods (both quantitative and qualitative).
• Thorough understanding of media industry topics and trends including content, marketing, advertising, branding, experience, and consumer technology
• Computer proficiency mandatory including in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet and graphics packages (preferably Excel and PowerPoint).
• Excellent people management skills. Ability to lead a team based in multiple locations and time zones.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment without sacrificing accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written are a must; strong project management skills are also essential.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesize research findings to ''tell a story'' with action-oriented implications is critical.
• Candidate must have a curious mindset with strong initiative, and feel passionately about the brand
• Proactive and forward thinking not just reactive and backward reporting (although that is also a significant part of the job)
• Candidate will also possess high level of maturity and professionalism and must demonstrate ability to function in a team environment.
• Must have the legal right to work in the US.
