As content creators in the digital space, we continuously leverage our technological capabilities to create immersive viewing experiences for iconic brands including Eurosport, GOLFTV, MotorTrend and discovery+!

We are looking for a Sports Editorial Director to join us. In this role, you will oversee the Sports Merchandising team in the creation and implementation of goals, priorities and merchandising strategies set by the Regional Strategy Director to maximise the full potential of sports content on Discovery+ local products.

Responsibilities
• Lead and coach the Sports Merchandising Team in establishing tasks, managing the progress of initiatives and acting responsible for the overall well-being and development of the team.
• Work closely with CRM, Product, Data, Marketing and others as applicable, to contribute to the overall engagement strategy. Leverage regional merchandising strategies to improve sport content discoverability, RTP, and engagement/retention of sport customers on Discovery+ local products.
• Drive operational consistency and efficiency in promoting the EMEA sporting calendar on Discovery+ while directing localised flexibility to be true to territory/market/experience and optimize for individual KPIs.
• Approve site/UX layouts for major live events including but not limited to the Olympics, Tennis Grand Slams, Tour de France and Allsvenskan Football and lead the team in running operational readiness calls to ensure smooth execution in the end-to-end delivery of sports assets for editorial curation.
• Build partnerships with the Discovery Sports Content team to align to the EMEA content strategy, including digital exclusivity on D+, live production plans across markets, bespoke highlights and key milestones that drive event viewing.
• Lead local EMEA editorial divisions through major company-initiatives and tech transformations acting as a key voice to raise opportunities, risks and considerations associated with sports merchandising and overall platform stability.
• Oversee resource planning for EMEA Editorial central teams across the yearly sports calendar allowing for live event coverage and stability. Work with local leads to identify resource constraints and escalate accordingly.

Qualifications
• Extensive professional experience in project management, stakeholder management, and executive communications.
• Passionate about all things sports.
• Relentless pursuit of operations and work-flow efficiency.
• Obsession with providing an excellent quality customer experience.
• Proficiency in Digital editorial operations, workflows, and live event creation tools.
Commanding knowledge of various editorial tools, DRM and CDNs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable with collaborating across multiple business units globally.
• Ability to comfortably work with various job functions such as Business Executives, Product, Data, Engineers, Technology Operations, and Vendors.
• Must be able and willing to travel throughout Europe and the US to meet with various teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a department and department staff members.
• Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills.
