The Job

CNN's Digital Video News team creates original video content for all CNN platforms. We write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos and collaborate across the organization to cover breaking news and other important topics such as health, crime, immigration, climate change and more. We tell human-centered stories with the aim of informing, inspiring and engaging the largest global digital audience in news today.

The Producer II is responsible for pitching ideas, making assignments, and overseeing our evening news producers as they execute daily and breaking news videos. They should be confident operating independently and leading others.

The Daily
This role is primarily an evening position. You will be:
• Identifying daily news and trending moments our audience wants to watch
• Researching, writing and gathering elements for scripts
• Planning ahead for big events
• Generating ideas for daily and enterprise videos
• Using performance data and use audience insights to inform assignments
• Giving feedback on scripts and video edits
• Publishing videos using our content management system
• Communicating and collaborating with key partners across CNN

The Essentials
• 7+ years of experience in a national or major media market
• A track record of excellent news judgment and a love for breaking news
• Experience creating and overseeing digital video, with the ability to spot errors and provide feedback to improve the final product
• A team player with strong communication and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require.
